Seeking Full Time Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist – Veterinary Referral Associates – Gaithersburg, MD
Veterinary Referral Associates is looking for a full-time certified rehabilitation therapist to work in our Physical Rehabilitation Department.
Are you interested in pain management, return to function, and post-operative care in pets? Do you have a passion for collaborating with veterinarians and pet parents in enhancing the mobility and quality of life of pets? VRA is expanding our Physical Rehabilitation department to employ a second certified rehabilitation therapist at our specialty referral practice in Gaithersburg, MD. This position is full-time Tuesday-Friday, 8am-6pm. Applicants must possess a rehabilitation certification (CCAT, CCRT, CCRP, or equivalent) within 3 months of their expected start date. Applicants are also expected to be proficient in the use of various therapeutic modalities, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercises. Veterinary technicians and physical therapists are eligible.
At VRA, you will play an integral role throughout each patient’s time with us. Our in-house veterinary specialists frequently refer patients to rehabilitation for post-operative therapy as well as improvement in mobility and quality of life. We also receive numerous referrals from local specialty hospitals and general practice hospitals. Our rehabilitation programs are individualized based on a patient’s needs, and frequently include therapeutic modalities, manual therapy, exercise, and underwater treadmill therapy. Our rehabilitation therapists have ample time with each patient with only (6) 1-hour long sessions per day.
VRA recognizes the importance of inpatient rehabilitative care in the comfort and recovery of hospitalized pets. For this reason, we have developed an inpatient rehabilitation program in which hospitalized patients are assessed by a rehabilitation therapist. If deemed necessary, these patients will be assigned to a rehabilitation therapist who will carry out their inpatient therapy through the remainder of their stay.
Our Physical Rehabilitation Department is supported by a rehabilitation assistant who assists with patient exercises and treatments, equipment maintenance, client communication, and reading and interpreting medical records; enters treatment parameters into computerized medical records; and maintains department cleanliness and restocking.
If you are passionate about animals and highly motivated, we want you!
Our Rehabilitation Therapists enjoy a 4-day work week!
We strive to help our technicians and assistants maintain a healthy work-life balance by offering set schedules so you can plan your life outside of work. Your schedule will consist of four, 10-hour shifts per week, with 3 days off.
Our 30,000 sq. ft. facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment including a 16 slice CT, MRI, endoscopy room, multiple mechanical ventilators, two digital radiology suites, flatbed and C-arm fluoroscopy units, linear accelerator, an ophthalmologic operating microscope, nuclear scintigraphy, interventional radiology, and a newly constructed minimally invasive integrated surgical suite.
Our Rehabilitation department is well-equipped with two underwater treadmills, gait analysis treadmill, Class IV laser, therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation units, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, and various therapeutic exercise equipment. We strive to take a “whole body” approach to our rehabilitation treatments rather than solely focusing on the specific problem. Our team employs open communication regarding cases so each team member can provide treatment suggestions as well as learn from more seasoned rehabilitation practitioners.
We have separate gastrointestinal and respiratory isolation wards, a separate and dedicated cat ward as well as a dedicated I-131 treatment ward. We have specialists in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.
We actively promote cross training in all departments and we are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in helping our hospital provide the best possible, state-of-the-art care for our patients.
