We are looking for an experienced technician and department manager to help support our very busy Dermatology service. Daily tasks will include verifying patient history during appointments, sedating and monitoring patients, reading cytology samples, client communication, and creation of allergy vaccines. Our Dermatologist relies heavily on the technicians to organize their day, keep their appointments on track, and communicate their recommendations to clients.
Our Dermatology Technicians enjoy a 4-day workweek!
We strive to help our technicians maintain a healthy work-life balance by offering set schedules so you can plan your life outside of work. Your schedule will consist of four, 10-hour shifts per week, with 3 days off.
Our 30,000 sq. ft. facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment including a 16 slice CT, MRI, endoscopy room, multiple mechanical ventilators, two digital radiology suites, a flat bed and C-Arm fluoroscopy units, linear accelerator, an ophthalmologic operating microscope, nuclear scintigraphy, interventional radiology, and a newly constructed minimally invasive integrated surgical suite.
We have separate gastrointestinal and respiratory intensive care isolation wards, a separate and dedicated cat ward as well as an I-131 treatment ward. We have specialists in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.
We actively promote cross training in all departments and we are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in learning how to run all of the hospital's equipment and perform all of our intricate procedures.

Veterinary Referral Associates (VRA) is looking for an Emergency Veterinarian to join our amazing team!
VRA is an AAHA accredited 24 hour specialty and emergency hospital located in Gaithersburg, MD (just 30 minutes from Washington D.C.). Our hospital is over 30,000 square feet and specialty services offered include medical and radiation oncology, internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, neurology, cardiology, radiology, acupuncture, physical rehabilitation, radioactive iodine treatment, and we just added an in-house pathology department.

Veterinary Referral Associates is looking for a full-time Surgery & Anesthesia technician.
Technician caseload includes patients with many comorbidities (cardiac, renal, hepatic) that require a dedicated team to not only keep them alive but help them thrive under anesthesia. Technicians are able to assist in formulating critical-care anesthesia plans, place arterial and central lines, administer blood products, as well as treat blood pressure abnormalities with different medications.
Anesthesia Veterinary Technicians are responsible for, but not limited to:
- Inducing, intubating, and monitoring anesthesia on critical cases
- Drug calculations and administration
- Obtaining vitals, placing IV as well as arterial catheters, phlebotomy, doppler blood pressure, radiology, blood transfusions, patient advocacy
- Instrument care, cleaning and sterilization
- Hospitalized patient nursing care for post-operative patients
- Client communication and education
Ideal Candidate’s Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Have strong basic technical skills: IVC placement, phlebotomy, radiology, ability to obtain vitals and know basic vitals parameters for dogs and cats
- Ability to safely and securely restrain animals using proper restraint techniques

Our Surgery technician will enjoy a 4-day workweek!
We strive to help our technicians maintain a healthy work-life balance by offering set schedules so you can plan your life outside of work. Your schedule will consist of four 10-hour shifts per week with three days off. Anesthesia technicians are required to be part of the anesthesia on-call schedule and you will receive a bonus for each case you are called in for. This will include week day overnights as well as one weekend per month and one holiday per year.

Veterinary Referral Associates is one of the oldest and best-known specialty veterinary and 24-hour emergency animal hospitals in the country, serving the Greater D.C. metropolitan area. This hospital proudly employees 150+ staff members including 30+ Doctors.
Position Overview: The Hospital Director works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The Hospital Director partners with the Veterinarians to provide an efficient and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.
Essential Position Functions:
- Supervises the staff within all hospital support departments; achieves and maintains all labor goals.
- Hires and trains office and technical clinic support staff; responsible for new hire paperwork.
- Orients and trains new clinic staff to the hospital and duties.
- Reviews work performance of direct reports, constructively delivers feedback, resolves personnel issues, and discussions with the Regional Manager weekly.
- Conducts timely performance appraisals.
- Documents and reports accidents; files appropriate reports.
- Writes policies/procedures relating to all technical aspects of the hospital and presents for approval.
- Manages schedules for technical and administrative staff coordinates the DVM.
- Monitors Workforce Management for missed punches and management of overtime hours daily.
- Administers the daily operations.
- Works with the PetVet Care Centers support team to ensure compliance with all administrative responsibilities.
- Monitors budgets, purchases equipment and supplies, and oversees the maintenance of the facility.
- Responsible for submitting contract veterinarian invoices, submitting all local vendor invoices, ensuring invoice accuracy, and obtaining w9’s from local vendors.
- Assists in resolving issues with pet owners where appropriate.
- Reviews revenue, labor, and employee issues with the PetVet leadership on a weekly conference call; achieve goals set in each area.
- Responsible for all local accounting functions; ensure daily financial information is accurate.
- Oversees the management of the inventory and ensures proper documentation and systems are in place.
- May establish and oversee billing practices; reviews and maintains the accuracy of billing and oversees charge capturing.
- May be responsible for contracts or negotiations with insurance providers.
- Maintain compliance of current licensure and the display of the same. Maintaining updated licenses for DVMs.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, health science or related field strongly preferred.
- At a minimum, five years of direct office management experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience is required.
- Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) is preferred.
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
