Dr. Mitterman was born and raised in the NYC metropolitan area. She spent the next ten years in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania where she received her bachelors cum laude in geology and environmental science, performed research in the geologic sciences, and later received her veterinary degree. After veterinary school she completed a general medicine and surgery internship at a large veterinary referral hospital in NJ. She spent the next few years working at a family practice in Washington DC. With surgery still calling, she completed her surgical internship and residency at the a specialty center in Westchester county. Prior to working at VRA, she has been practicing in hospitals in the NYC metropolitan area. She has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and surgical oncology but is trained to perform all surgical procedures.
Dr. Mitterman is an avid theater goer and when she is not working she can also be found singing showtunes. Her other hobbies include marathon running and triathalons, Buddhist meditation and yoga, eating her way through the vegan scene, crystal lore and jewelry making. She also cherishes spending time with her friends and family, including a 16 year old cat named Rhyolite and an elderly one eyed deaf chihuahua rescue named Mabel.
