Dr. Alex Scharf attended Cornell University as an undergraduate, where she majored in chemical engineering. She then went on to earn her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and PhD at the University of Georgia, focusing her research on stem cell therapies in the equine athlete. Dr. Scharf comes to VRA from Texas A&M University, where she completed an internship in large animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Scharf’s research interests are primarily in diagnostic imaging, regenerative medicine, and oncology and she plans to pursue residency training in radiation oncology in 2020. In her free time, Dr. Scharf rides horses and spends time with her two dogs, Oliver and Penelope.
